Cougar Softball Team -- The softball team had a fantastic season, capturing their seventh Region IX title in program history and first since 2016. WNCC opened tourney play with a walk-off single by Bri George in a 3-2 win over McCook. WNCC then downed Trinidad State before facing McCook in the championship and winning 14-5. The Cougars then hosted the district final against Butler and fell in two games to the No. 10 Butler in a close 5-4 defeat and then 8-5 to end their season at 35-20 and winners of 19 games since April 1.
