WNCC men top Miles

                CASPER, Wyo. – Dorde Dimitrijevic poured in 20 points and the Western Nebraska Community College men's basketball team held on for a 64-57 win over Miles Community College in the final day of the Cercy Investments Classis Saturday afternoon in Casper, Wyoming.

                The Cougars played a strong first half, running out to a 38-24 halftime lead behind 45 percent shooting.

                The second half things got interesting as Miles sliced the lead to four points on several occasions. Miles shot 48 percent in the second half compared to 33 percent for the Cougars.

                WNCC, however, made the shots and plays when they needed in the second half, picking up their third win of the season.

                WNCC connected on just two 3-pointers and were 10-of-17 from the free throw line.

                Miles held the rebounding edge 45-33. Jeremy Ruffin led the Cougars with eight boards.

                WNCC had balanced scoring with just one in double figure. Dimitrijevic had 20 followed by eight each from Ruffin and RJ Palmer. Daylon Harris chipped in seven while Vinnie Shahid and Trent Harris each had six.

                Miles was led by Deng Kuany with a double-double of 15 rebounds and 10 points.

                WNCC, 3-1, will have a week off before they come home to host Adams State junior varsity on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
