TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The No. 14 Western Nebraska Community College men's basketball received 46 points from Dru Kuxhausen and Jervay Green in earning a hard fought 73-68 win over Eastern Wyoming College Friday evening at Torrington, Wyoming.

Green finished the game with 24 points, including scoring 16 in the second half, while Kuxhausen finished with 22 points.

The win was the Cougars 9th win of the season and their sixth straight.

The two Highway 26 teams battled throughout with both teams coming back from deficits. The Cougars held most of the leads, however, including starting out at 1-4 and 21-12 in the first half before settling for a 36-30 halftime lead.

The second half was a battle as well. WNCC led 42-36 early before the Lancers sliced the led to 42-40 and later to 50-49.

The Cougars came back on buckets by Kuxhausen and Green to lead 57-49. That was when EWC would grab a 61-57 lead. It was shortlived, however, as WNCC went on a 10-0 run to lead 67-61. EWC sliced the lead to 71-68 with a minute to play, but a dunk by Green sealed the win for the Cougars.

WNCC had just two players in double figures in Green and Kuxhausen. Henry Tanksley was next in line with eight points.

EWC had four players in double figures. Brandon Meadows led the way with 19 points followed by Jonatan Arvidsson with 15. David Hook tallied 13 while Jordan Potts had 11.

WNCC will return to action next week when they travel to Williston, North Dakota, Dec. 6-7 to face Williston and Sheridan. The Cougars will then host Laramie County on Dec. 11 before wrapping up the first semester with a pair of games at Ottumwa, Iowa, against Indian Hills and Iowa Lakes.
