WNCC women hit century mark in win over Little Big Horn

              SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team put six players in double figures as the 25th-ranked Cougars ran past Little Big Horn College 111-50 in the first day of the Sheridan Classic Friday afternoon.

              WNCC held a 65-27 lead at halftime and never looked back in the contest.

              The Cougars shot 59 percent from the field in the first half and 53 percent for the game.

              WNCC was hitting from all parts of the floor, nailing nine 3-pointers in the win. Olivia Wibirg canned three treys, while Merle Wiehl and Melisa Kadic each had two.

              Giovanna Silva led the Cougars with a double-double. Silva finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Cougars fifth win of the year.

              Merle Wiehl finished with 17 points, including pulling down seven boards and dishing off four assists. Sophie Agorakis finished with 13 points including a team-high six steals.

              The Cougars also got 12 points from Kadic and 10 points each from Wiberg and Jaleesa Avery.

              WNCC will finish off the classic on Saturday against Sheridan College.
