WNCC buries 20 treys in win over Trinidad State

                The Western Nebraska Community College broke a school record with most 3-pointers in a game, burying 20 treys in posting a 110-62 win over Trinidad State Junior College on Friday.

                WNCC received 45 combined points and 10 combined 3-pointers from Tishara Morehouse and Allysah Boothe in posting the win for their sixth victory of the season and fourth straight.

                Boothe lead the Cougars with 23 points and six treys while Morehouse had 22 points and four 3-pionters. Merle Wiehl also got in on the 3-point shooting with three 3-pointers, while R'Manie Pulling also buried three treys. Taylor Joplin had two treys, the first two buckets of the game. Yaidelis Torres finished off the 3-point parade, hitting a long-range shot for the Cougars 110th point of the night.

                The Cougars controlled the action from the get-go, jumping out to an 18-4 lead before enjoying a 33-14 lead after one quarter.

                Both teams played even in the second quarter as the Cougars held a 53-34 lead at intermission.

                The third quarter was back and forth to start before the Cougars ended the period on a 14-0 run to lead 85-48 after three periods.

                WNCC hit the century mark with just over three minutes to play on a Kolby Underwood bucket.

                WNCC shot 54 percent from the field and were 20 of 41 from beyond the arc. The Cougars also held a 43-30 advantage on the glass.

                The Cougars had five players in double figures. After Boothe and Morehouse, Pulling had 15 points followed by Wiehl with 13, and Joplin with 10.

                WNCC will be back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. when they face the Nebraska All-stars. The All-stars fell to Eastern Wyoming 108-73. The Lancers will face Trinidad State at noon on Saturday to wrap up the classic.
