WNCC women capture 11th straight win over Sheridan

                SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team will head into the holiday break spreading some holiday cheer after capturing their 11th straight win with an 82-60 win over Sheridan College in the final day of the Sheridan Christmas Classic Saturday evening in Sheridan, Wyoming.

                The win moves WNCC to 12-2 on the season as they prepare for a 3-week break before returning to action January 7 when they travel to take on Casper College.

                Saturday's contest was all WNCC as the Cougars led from start to finish. WNCC opened the game by rolling to a 32-12 lead after the first 10 minutes and had a commanding 55-27 lead at halftime. WNCC shot 51 percent in the opening half, including burying 10 3-pointers.

                The second half was evenly played considering WNCC already had the game under control. WNCC shot just 24 percent in the second half. WNCC held a 30-point lead after three quarters 72-42 before the Generals outscored the Cougars 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

                WNCC had four players in double figures. Tishara Morehouse led all scorers with 24 points, including making three 3-pointers. Merle Wiehl followed with 19 points and five 3-pointers, while Taylor Joplin had 13 points and three treys. R'Manie Pulling tallied 12 points and two treys.

                Another big key in the win was free throw shooting. The Cougars were a blistering 14 of 15 from the charity stripe, while the Generals were 15 of 22.
