WNCC women shutout Northwest College

                GILLETTE, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College women's soccer captured their first win of the season with a shutout 3-0 win over Region IX North opponent Northwest College in Gillette, Wyoming.

                The win was a solid outing for the Cougars.

                WNCC scored the first goal of the game with 14 minutes to play as Thais Nayara scored off an assist from Dayeli Limon to take the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

                The WNCC women added two insurance goals in the second half. Rafaela Passos scored the first goal of the second half, taking a pass from Nayara and ripping it into the upper 90 with 37 minutes to play.

                Lisa Haferkamp closed out the scoring, scoring with 18 minutes to play off an assist from Passos for the 3-0 lead.

                The Cougar women had a 13-10 shot advantage on Northwest.

                Laramie Lake had six saves in goal for the Cougars.

                The WNCC women, 1-2 on the young season, will be back in action Sunday when they face Gillette College at 3 p.m.
