Box Score 4 It was a high scoring weekend for the Scottie softball team as they scored 49 total runs on 70 hits in their four victories at the Cloud County Tournament.

SATURDAY, GAME 1
Game one saw Western Nebraska jumping out to a quick 4-2 lead in after the first inning and a half. The Scotties answered scoring three runs in the bottom of the 2
nd to take back the lead 5-4.

Western Nebraska scored two more in the third but again, the Scotties answered with two runs of their own the same inning. A three run 6
th would seal the deal for Highland as they went on to win 11-7 over the Cougars to start of the four-game weekend stretch.

Haley Donaldson had a big day going 2-4 with four RBI's, two runs scored and one home run.
Kenzie Garvin continued to hit the ball well going 3-4 and scoring two runs.

SATURDAY, GAME 2
The Scotties put on a hitting clinic in game two Saturday afternoon. They recorded 21 hits on their way to the 17-0 victory in 5-innings.

Kennadi Barron led the charge going 4-4 (walk, double, single, home run, double) knocking in five RBI's and scoring three runs.
Maddie Moore went 4-4 hitting three singles and a double with two RBI's and four runs.
Kaori Corn,
Julisa Ortega and
Whitney DeGonia all had two RBI's each.

SUNDAY, GAME 1
Highland took on Northeast CC (NE) in game one Sunday afternoon. Northeast struck first in the top of the 1
st inning scoring three runs of a three-run home run. Highland came out swinging as well and scored six runs in the bottom of the 1
st.
Kennadi Barron was responsible for four of those runs after she hit a grand slam in the bottom of the inning.

The Scotties scored one run in the 2
nd taking a 7-3 lead. A Northeast four run 3
rd inning tied the game 7-7. Northeast followed that inning up with a three-run 4
th, taking the lead 10-7.

Kennadi Barron hit her second home run of the day, this time a solo shot in the bottom of the 5
th. A sacrifice fly by
Haley Donaldson scored
Sam Moran and Highland trailed by one, 9-10 heading into the 6
th inning.

Northeast took a two-run lead into the 7
th-inning after scoring one in the 6
th.
Kennadi Barron,
Sam Moran and
Kenzie Garvin each hit back-to-back-to-back singles to start the inning. Garvin's single scored Barron from second cutting the deficit to one run. Another single by
Maddie Moore would load the bases for Highland.
Kayla Ross hit the fifth single of the inning scoring Moran and tying the game at 11.
In the bottom of the 8
th,
Haley Donaldson hit walk-off single to score
Sam Moran and win the game 13-12.

Highland finished with 22 hits in the game.
Kennadi Barron put up big numbers for the second straight day going 4-5 with five RBI's and scoring three runs.

SUNDAY, GAME 2
Â
It was a slow start for both teams offensively but a three run
Kennadi Barron homerun (her 3rd of the day) in the bottom of the 5
th gave Highland the 6-5 lead and they never gave it back. HCC scored two more in the 5
th while giving up only one more run to the Lakers in the 6
th. The Scotties recorded 15 hits and scored 8-runs as they defeated Iowa Lakes CC 8-6.

Julisa Ortega got the win, pitching all 7-innings giving up six runs on nine hits while striking out five.
Kennadi Barron went 2-4 with three RBI's.
Maddy Miller added two RBI's for the Scotties.

Highland is on an 8-game win streak and will take on Kansas City Kansas CC Tuesday, March 7
th in Kansas City, KS at 1:00pm & 3:00pm.
