Volleyball Drops Matches With SLCC & WNCC

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches with #9 Salt Lake Community College in four sets and #19 Western Nebraska Community College in straight sets to close out the WyoBraska Tournament Saturday. The Golden Eagles went down 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17 to the Bruins. LCCC lost 25-20, 25-21, 25-15 to the Cougars.

Cassidy Nelson (South Jordan, Utah) led the way with 18 kills for the Golden Eagles against the Bruins. Hanna Blunt (Loveland, Colorado) was great defensively, recording four block assists. The Golden Eagles had 10 block assists to Salt Lake's 22. Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) handed out 48 assists, which is third most in LCCC history. Kendzee Cloward (South Jordan, Utah) led in digs with 26.

Nelson led the way with 14 kills against the Cougars. Francesca Rossi (Rome, Italy) recorded two block assists. The Cougars had the advantage in kills 40-31. Sheldon handed out 15 assists and Shelby Veenstra (Twin Falls, Idaho) had 11. Cloward led in digs with 13.

Laramie County will host Eastern Wyoming College to kick off Region IX North play on Tuesday. Game time set to start at 7 p.m.
