Why I recommend WNCC Baseball?

Alex Ackermann, from Aurora, Colorado -- 2015-17

"For me, the best part about WNCC baseball was learning day in and day out from Coach [Mike] Jones and Coach [Ryan] Burgner. They gave the right amount of knowledge but gave us that opportunity to go out and fail so we learned how to do everything right. Along with the coaches, I made some life long friendships and gained so many brothers from my two years in Scottsbluff. My best memory would have to be winning the conference title in Lamar, and storming the field. Knowing all that we had worked for had finally paid off!"

John Timmins from Omaha, Nebraska -- 2012-14
The biggest thing that drew me to WNCC was the fact that it didn’t feel like one of the big, four-year universities at all. And i liked that. The professors, coaches and even the people in the community had a much better connection with me as a student-athlete. The classes sizes made the professors very approachable and they always worked with me for any schedule difficulties i encountered because of baseball. On the field, the coaches made sure to deliver the most important message that you can learn from the game of baseball; work hard and focus on the things you can control. I can confidently say that the coaches at WNCC brought the diverse group of guys i played with closer as a whole and helped us to refine skills that aided each of us both on and off the field. When i look at where i am now, playing professional baseball for the San Francisco Giants, i can honestly say that i would do it all over again without changing a thing. The road to where I’m at now hasn’t been easy but the things i learned and the people i met at WNCC prepared me to overcome any obstacles that i encountered on my way.

Austin Michaud, from Olathe, Kansas -- 2014-16

"While I was at WNCC, the baseball program meant so much to me. With my parents living in Florida while I was there, I never got to see them and Coach Jones and Coach Burgner were my father figures while I was there. Not only that, but the team was a massive family and we seemed to mesh really well. All in all I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in the baseball program at Western Nebraska."
