Knights fall to Western in four sets

The North Platte Community College Knights Volleyball Team played a good game but ultimately fell to Western Nebraska Community College Friday night in McCook. Western is ranked ninth in Division I standings.

The Knights lost in four sets: 18-25, 27-25, 17-25 and 20-25. They are now 6-9 on the season.

Alysen Daniels, of Mullen, scored 13 kills for the Knights, followed by Peyton Negley, of North Platte, with 10 and Erica Hopping, of Sutherland, and Taylor Hansen, of Yuma, Colo., who each had six. Ruby Valle, of Weldona, Colo., added 19 digs. Hopping finished with 16 digs.

"I saw some good things tonight," said NPCC head volleyball coach Alexa McCall. "I thought we pushed a good Western Nebraska team and got them out of system. We just have to be a little more consistent along the way. I thought our oustides played well, and defense stepped up, too."

The Knights have a chance to make a comeback Saturday on their home court. They will take on Trinidad State Junior College at noon Saturday in the McDonald-Belton Gym on NPCC's South Campus.

The Knights will use the game to honor their sophomores. The livestream can be viewed at npccknights.com.
