
Rival Region IX Game Ends In A Double Overtime Tie

Coming off of a tough home loss to Laramie County CC on Wednesday, September 15th, the Plainsmen were looking to regroup as they faced another tough Region IX matchup on the road. As per a usual rivalry game, the match got off to a hot start with each team scoring a goal early in the match, but that was it. Neither NJC or the Cougars could manage to get another goal for the remainder of the contest as it ended in a double overtime tie. Though both teams had scoring opportunities, solid goalkeeping was the name of the game from mintue 30 onward. The Plainsmen find themselves with a 7-2-1 overall record and a 3-1-1 record in the conference. As of Monday, September 20th, NJC men's soccer was still ranked at #18 natioanlly. Next up for the Plainsmen is a rematch against rival Western Nebraska CC on Saturday, October 2nd at 3:30pm, on their home turf.

WNCC Goal - At minute 30, Vitor Huertas was able to beat goalkeeper on a free kick
Breakdown: Even with two quick goals in the matchup, neither team was able to score another goal in the remaining minutes of the game. NJC had a total of 13 shots, in which 12 were on goal. The Plainsmen also had 7 corner kicks compared to 1 for Western Nebraska. What was a physical game, NJC recorded 25 fouls with WNCC recording only 6.
