The North Platte Community College Knights Volleyball Team ran into some tough competition during the first day of the Eastern Wyoming Invitational at Torrington on Friday.

Peyton Negley, of North Platte, led the WNCC game with six kills, while Taylor Hansen, of Yuma, Colo., and Alysen Daniels, of Mullen, notched five each. Ruby Valle, of Weldona, Colo., finished with 15 digs.

The women battled back against Casper with 15 kills by Hansen and 13 by Negley. Madi Neely, of Broken Bow, had four blocks, Erica Hopping, of Sutherland, distributed 46 assists and Tania Morales, of Yuma, Colo., posted 19 digs.

"I am starting to see some of the things we have been working on, but we just have to find a way to be more consistent as a team," NPCC head volleyball coach Alexa McCall said. "I was proud of our passers today. I thought we passed well."

The Knights are now 4-7 on the season.

They will enter the second day of the tournament against Laramie County Community College at 11 a.m. Saturday. Their final opponent will be Eastern Wyoming College at 3 p.m.
