The Western Nebraska Community College baseball team couldn't find their offense in dropping a doubleheader with Garden City Community College on Tuesday at Cleveland Field.

The first game saw the Cougars start strong, but then Garden City scored three times in the fourth and sixth inning to claim the 8-4 win.

The second game saw WNCC manage just four hits as Garden City rolled to an 8-0 win behind a 10-strike out night from the six Garden City pitchers.

WNCC will be back in action Sunday and Monday when they travel to Lamar Community College for a 4-game Empire Conference series.

Tuesday's first game saw WNCC take a 4-1 lead after the first inning. Caleb Caciari led off with a double and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1. Asahi Nakano followed with a run-scoring single to make it 2-1 and then Tyler Easter scored on a wild pitch for a 3-1 lead. Ryan Platte scored the final run in the inning on a Kensei Oikawa ground out.

Garden City added a single run in the third and then plated three in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead. The Broncbusters plated three insurance runs in the sixth for the 8-4 lead.

WNCC managed just four hits in the contest. Caciari had the only extra base hit with a double. Platt led the offense with two hits with a run scored.

WNCC utilized four pitchers while Garden City put six out on the mound. Starter Cameryn Spence went three innings in allowing two runs and striking out three. Myttchel Pollock took the loss in allowing three runs and three hits in two innings of work. Also seeing time on the mound were Tucker Hill and Asthon Ross.

The second game was close through the first three innings. Garden City scored first as they added one run in the second. The fourth inning was the difference as the Cougars surrendered seven runs for the 8-0 lead. Other than that 7-run fourth inning, the Cougars played tough and had base runners, but couldn't get them in.

WNCC was led at the plate by Inoue with two singles. The other base hits came from Nakano and Landon Lockwood.
