Western Nebraska Community College Claydon Brandon picked up some Region IX honors this week after he was named the Region IX Pitcher of the Week for his performance against New Mexico Military Institute.

                Brandon helped the Cougars to a season-opening 5-1 win over NMMI. Brandon had five innings of work where he didn't surrender a run while allowing three hits, striking out four, and not walking a batter. Brandon is a right-handed pitcher from West Herriman, Utah.

                The Cougars will be in action next week with a schedule home game on Wednesday, February 19 against Northeastern Junior College, weather pending, followed by home games with Miles Community College on February 22 and 23.
