WNCC men fall to Trinidad State

                TRINIDAD, Colo. – The Western Nebraska Community College put three players in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Trinidad State Junior College men's basketball team earned a 74-65 Region IX South sub-region win Friday evening in Trinidad.

                The win drops the Cougars to 15-9 on the season and 6-4 in South sub-region play. The Trojans moved to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

                The first half was a back and forth contest as WNCC led late in the opening half only to settle for a 36-36 tie.

                The second half saw Trinidad outscore the Cougars 38-29 to earn the win.

                WNCC shot 37 percent for the game and only buried six of 24 3-pointers. Trinidad shot 48 percent for the game and only made six 2-pointers.

                WNCC had three players in double figures. Djordje Dimitrijevic led the Cougars with 21 points, including burying three 3-pointers and going 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

                Jeremy Ruffin also tallied 14 points. Ruffin also pulled down nine rebounds and dished off three assists. Michael Connor, Jr., finished with 10 points while collecting four steals.
