WNCC men capture 20-point win over Colby

                GOODLAND, Kan. – The Western Nebraska Community College men's basketball team captured their first win of the season with a big 87-67 win over Colby Community College at the NT Classic in Goodland, Kansas, Friday.

                JJ Harris was big offense Friday night as he poured in 25 points, including burying seven 3-pointers to lead the team.

                WNCC also got 18 points from Daniel Bula and 13 points from Maurice Walker.

                The Cougars buried 17 3-pointers in the game. Walker and Bula each had four treys to trail Harris' seven.

                WNCC shot 49.2 percent from the field and 61 percent from beyond the arc. The Cougar defense held Colby to just 38 percent shooting and 39 percent (7-of-18) from the 3-point arc.

                The Cougars out-rebounded the Trojans 32-31. Elijah Burney had 14 rebounds.

                WNCC led 45-30 at halftime and never looked back. The second half was closer as the Cougars just out-scored Colby 42-37.

                The Cougars, 1-2, will wrap up the NT Classic with an afternoon game on Saturday when they face the host team Northwest Kansas Technical College. Northwest Kansas won Friday 82-63 over Strength 'N Motion.
