STERLING, Colo. — The Western Nebraska Community College softball team kept rolling with another lopsided doubleheader sweep of a conference opponent on Monday afternoon in Sterling, Colorado.

After taking four games from Lamar Community College over the weekend by a combined score of 55-11, the Cougars recorded a 15-0 and 14-2 win over Northeastern Junior College.

The victories improved WNCC to 33-7 overall on the season and extended its winning streak to seven in a row. The Cougars, who sit on top of the Region IX Conference standings, have won 18 of their last 19 games.

In Monday's opener, Andy Hancock and Payten Davies combined on a two-hit shutout. Hancock allowed two hits and struck out six in five innings, while Davies fanned two in one inning of work.

The pitchers received plenty of offensive support as WNCC piled up 16 hits. Courtney Medina led the way with three hits, three runs batted in and three runs scored. Also recording two hits each were Christian Bobian, Jasmine Wessel, Celyn Whitt, and Cassie Jones. Bobian drove in two runs. Jade Morton added a homer and knocked in two runs.

Leading 7-0 through five innings, the Cougars scored eight runs in the top of the sixth to blow the game wide open.

WNCC didn't let up in the second game as the Cougar offense finished with 15 hits. Weber and Kenzie Sawyer both led the attack with three hits. Sawyer doubled, drove in four and scored two runs. Weber drove in three and scored three runs.

Finishing with two hits each were Medina and Bobian. Medina scored three runs, while Bobian knocked in two. Wessel also drove in a pair of runs and had a double.
