WNCC women roll over Sheridan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Zeynep Canbaz poured in 19 points and the Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team captured its fourth win of the young season with a 73-50 win over Sheridan College in the Air Force Classic Thursday.

The win moves the 25th-ranked Cougars to 4-0 on the season.

The Cougars was in control from the get-go, scoring 21 first quarter and then netting 19 points in the second quarter for 40 at the half. WNCC kept the offense going in the second half, scoring 38 points, 19 in each 10-minute quarter.

WNCC shot the ball well in the contest, shooting 45 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point arc (4-of-arc). WNCC's 3-09nters came from Canbaz, Ozge Yarga, Bree Paulson, and Mikayla Gonzales.

WNCC put two players in double figures. After Canbaz' 19, Sladjana Rakovic with 11 points. Rakovic also led the team with eight rebounds.

WNCC also received eight points from Paulson as well as seven from Gonzales, and six each from Myram Garcia and Kalli Feddersen.

The Cougars will be back in action today when they face Salt Lake Community College in the Air Force Classic.
