WNCC women fall to No. 7 Salt Lake

            COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season during the second day of the Air Force Prep Classic Friday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

            Tilar Clark scored a game-high 29 points to lead seventh-ranked Salt Lake Community College to a 72-59 win over the 25th-ranked Cougars. Salt Lake outscored WNCC 46-31 in the second half to overcome a two-point halftime deficit.

            Clark scored 24 of her 29 points in the second half. She was joined in double figures by her teammate Monique Mills with 15 points.
            Sladjana Rakovic was the only Cougar to score in double figures. She finished with 18 points. Rakovic shot a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.

            Luize Skrastina and Zeynep Canbaz added eight points each for WNCC, while Kalli Feddersen added seven. Ozge Yarga and Mikayla Gonzales both finished with six points each. Skrastina hit both of the Cougars' 3-pointers in the contest.

            WNCC connected on 19 of its 25 free-throw opportunities.

            The Cougars, now 4-1 on the season, will return to action next week when they compete at home for the first time. WNCC will host the Lady Cougar Classic beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. against Colby Community College. The tournament will continue through Saturday with the Cougars also facing Central Wyoming and the Adams State JV.
