WNCC women's soccer gets five on all-region team

                The Western Nebraska Community College women's soccer team, who qualified for the Region IX tournament, had five players earn All-Region honors for their play on the pitch this season.

                WNCC had two players earn First Team honors and three players capture Second Team honors.

                First Team honors were bestowed to Jesse Michel, a freshman from Logan, Utah, as a Defender, and Rhiannon Castle, a sophomore from England, as a Midfielder.

                Those earning Second Team honors included Chelsey Keefer, a sophomore from Sandy, Utah, as a Defender; Eden Washington, a freshman from England, as a Midfielder; and Kennedy Lawes, a sophomore from Kaysville, Utah, as a Forward.

                Other honors voted on by the soccer coaches included Otero's Thalya Dwyer of Otero and Eden Stoddard of Laramie County as MVPs, and Otero's Christina Tafoya as Freshman of the Year.

                The Cougar women finished the season at 9-5-1, falling to Otero Junior College in the semifinals of the Region IX tournament.
