Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending February 15
February 20, 2026-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week of February 15 -- -- Ella Chesta-Carty, Women's Basketball -- Ella Chesta-Carty, a freshman from Antibes, France, hit the game-winning shot on Valentine's Day to give the Cougars the 83-80 road win over Southeast. Ella finished the game with 23 points to lead the team, and it was a big lift for Ella, who in the previous two games combined for just seven points. Ella made just one 3-pointer in the game and it was the one that mattered the most. Ella had scored in double figures in all the games this season except for the games on Feb. 5 and 11. Ella is averaging 15.5 points and 2.7 rebounds a game. She has made 37 3-pointers this season so far. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending February 15
February 20, 2026-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week of February 15 -- -- Noah Jones, Men's Basketball -- Noah Jones, a redshirt sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had a nice game in an 89-84 win over Southeast on the road on Valentine's Day. Noah contributed 16 points with two 3-pointers in the win, but was also 6-for-8 from the free throw line with two 3-pointers. He also pulled down six rebounds in the win as the team had four in double figures to avenge an earlier season loss to Southeast at home. Noah is averaging 7.5 points a game this season and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 36.5 percent from the 3-point arc. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending February 7
February 11, 2026-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week February 7 -- -- Aniaya Burton-Hernandez, Women's Basketball -- Aniaya Burton-Hernandez, a freshman from Harlem, New York, is one of those players that goes out and plays the game and does the little things and that is what she did the last four games, where she scored 15 points and pulled down 24 rebounds. Her big game was a 14-rebound and 8-point night in a win over Trinidad State. She also had a quiet five points in the win over Otero. For the season, she is averaging 4.0 points and pulling down 3.6 rebounds per contest. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending February 7
February 11, 2026-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week February 7 -- -- Witold Czerenkiewicz, Men's Basketball -- Witold Czerenkiewicz, a sophomore from Poland, has had four good games where he had 12 points in four games. The big game was a 10-point performance against North Platte in a loss, where he buried two key 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds in that game. In the four games, he also pulled down 11 rebounds. He made five 3-pointers in those games and shot over 50 percent for the games. Witold is averaging 1.8 points a game and one rebound a game. -

January 26, 2026-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending January 25 -- -- Zo Sipolina, Women's Basketball -- Zozefine Sipolina, a sophomore from Jurmala, Latvia, had a nice weekend where she scored 39 points in two games to help the Cougars stay unbeaten in the conference. Zo had a huge contest against Trinidad in a 71-64 win where she had 26 points and 10 rebounds. On top of that, she had another double-figure night in the game where she was perfect from the free throw line, going 10-of-10. The next night, Zo had another double-double where she had 13 points and 13 rebounds. She buried a total of seven 3-pointers in the two games. Zo has scored in double figures in the last five games. -

January 26, 2026-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending January 25 -- -- Xavier Kirkpatrick, Men's Basketball -- Xavier Kirkpatrick, a freshman from Ocala, Florida, had a huge game in helping to the Cougars to a win over Trinidad State College. Xavier finished with a game-high 20 points that included four 3-pointers in the win on the road. Xavier had scored double figures in four of the last five games for the Cougars. He added 10 points the next night against Otero College. Xavier is averaging 9.6 points a contest while making 31.4 percent of his 3-point shots. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Charisma Johnson
January 16, 2026-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending January 11 -- -- Charisma Johnson, Women's Basketball -- Charisma Johnson, a freshman from Portland, Oregon, had two big games in the return to action in January against Gillette and Northeastern. The point guard scored a team-high 14 points against Gillette and then had a 10-point contest against NJC at Cougar Palace. In the NJC contest, Charisma shot 80 percent from the field. Charisma has a streak of three straight double-figure games, including a game the game on Jan. 14 when she scored 14 in a win over Lamar. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Kellon Harris
January 16, 2026-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending January 11 -- -- Kellon Harris, Men's Basketball -- Kellon Harris, a red-shirt sophomore from Scottsbluff, had a big week last week when the Cougars opened January with three games. Harris, in three games, scored 73 points, including a 30-point contest against Casper College and then had 26 points against Gillette College. He also had 17 points against Northeastern JC. In the 30-point game against Casper, Kellon buried four 3-pointers and pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds. Harris is averaging 12.9 points per contest and has made 26 3-pointers this season. -

December 30, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending December 16 -- Juseana-Rae Delatori, Women's Basketball Juseana-Rae Delatori, a freshman from Lahaina, Hawaii, finished off the first semester with a big game in a 71-62 win over Gillette College on December 14 when the freshman tallied 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Juseana-Rae was 6-for-9 from the field and also had three rebounds in the game. Juseana-Rae has had double-figure scoring in three of her last four games and is averaging 6.8 points a game while shooting 36 percent from the 3-point arc. -

December 30, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending December 16 -- Viktor Lukic-Gavric, Men's Basketball Viktor Lukic-Gavric, a freshman from Sweden, finished off the first semester with back-to-back 17-point games in losses to Snow College and Utah State Eastern back in December to wrap up the first semester. Against Snow, Viktor had 17 points to pace the Cougars. Against Utah State Eastern he tallied 17 points and nine rebounds. He has scored in double figures the last four games. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Veralyn Aviles (For the Week ending December 8)
-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending December 8 -- Verlyn Aviles, a freshman from Brooklyn, New York, has scored in double digits the last five games. Veralyn, in those five games, has scored 66 points, including going 20-of-31 from the free throw line. She also had 22 total rebounds, 27 total assists, and 11 total steals in the last five games. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Isaiah St. Preux (Week Ending December 8)
December 14, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending December 8 -- Isaiah St. Preux, a sophomore from Miramar, Florida, wrapped up November with four games where he totaled 52 points while making eight 3-pointers. He had a 20-point game against College of Southern Idaho and then had 15 points in a win over Eastern Wyoming on November 25. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending Nov. 19 -- Ella Chesta-Carty, Women's Basketball
November 22, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending November 19 -- Ella Chesta-Carty, a freshman from Antibes, France, had a solid week last week in games against WEC, Colorado State Club, and Casper. The freshman had 15 points and seven rebounds against EWC and then had 10 points and six rebounds against CSU Club. Against Casper, Ella had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in a loss. Ella is averaging 13.3 points a game and 6.9 rebounds and has scored in double figures in all seven games this season. -
Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending Nov. 19 -- Amare Jackson, Men's Basketball
November 22, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending November 19 -- Amare Jackson, a freshman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, had some good games last week. In a game against Eastern Arizona on the road, the guard tallied 18 points five rebounds and five steals. he also had 10 points in a game with CoChise College in Arizona. Amare is averaging 11.1 points a contest and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Zozefine Sipolina
November 10, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending November 10 -- Zozefine Sipolina, a sophomore from Jurmala, Latvia, has scored in double figures in all four games this season and last week in two games, the sophomore guard combined for 36 points in two games while connecting on five 3-pointers and going a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. In a win on Sunday against LCCC, Zozefine had 21 points with five 3-pointers. Zozefine is averaging 15.8 points a game while shooting 31 percent from the 3-point line. In the win against LCCC, Zozefine registered her 100th made 3-pointer in her career. She now has 104 in her two years at WNCC. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Viktor Lukic-Gavric
November 10, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending November 10 -- Viktor Lukic-Gavric, Men's Basketball --Viktor Lukic-Gavric, a freshman from Sweden had 30 points with 11-of-12 shooting from the free throw line in a 114-95 loss to Butler on Saturday. Viktor, in the Crowley Classic, finished with 42 points, five triples made and went 13-of-16 from the charity stripe. The freshman also pulled down five rebounds. Viktor is averaging 20 points a game and shooting 35.5 percent from the 3-point line. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Kyana Gabriel
October 03, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 28 -- -- Kyana Gabriel, Volleyball -- Kyana Gabriel, a red-shirt sophomore from Hawaii, has been playing well the last three weeks and has had double-figure kills in nine of the last 11 matches. Against NJC on Sept. 23, she had 12 kills and then against Lamar, she tallied 12 kills. In a win over McCook, she only had nine kills, one short of double figures, but rebounded with 12 kills and 18 digs in a 5-set, heartbreaking loss to Casper on Tuesday. This seas she has put down 210 kills and has 140 digs. For her career, Kyana is at 455 kills and 298 digs. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Pau Vera Montoya
October 03, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 28 -- -- Pau Vera Montoya, Men's Soccer -- Pau Vera Montoya, a freshman from Spain, had a big goal against Laramie County Community College to help the team earn a tie with the Golden Eagles. Pau wasted little time in putting the Cougars on the scoreboard as he scored from 18 yards out for the 1-0 lead. Pau has now scored three goals and delivered an assist for the Cougars this season. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Nia Trevino
September 18, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 14 -- -- Nia Trevino, Women's Soccer -- Nia Trevino, a freshman from Greeley, Colorado, had a big game against Lamar where the Greeley Central graduate scored two goals to help the Cougars to a 4-3 win. Nia scored just 10 minutes into the game to tie the contest as she took a pass from Allison Herbel and scored. Her second goal came in the second half to tie the match at 3-3 off an assist from Candela Martin in the 68th minute. Nia has scored three times this season. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Oscar Molina
September 18, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 14 -- -- Oscar Molina, Men's Soccer -- Oscar Molina, a freshman from Miami, Florida, scored two goals last weekend in conference games, and both were penalty kick goals. The big goal was in the NJC game where Oscar booted a penalty kick in the 51st minute to put the Cougars up 1-0. NJC used a late goal to earn the tie. In the Lamar match, Molina scored on a penalty kick in the 89th minute in a 6-0 win. Oscar has scored three goals this season. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Dani Cruz, volleyball
September 11, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 7 -- -- Dani Cruz, Volleyball -- Dani Cruz, a sophomore from Guadalajara, Mexico, had a strong week last week where she tallied 58 kills and 45 digs in five matches. She had a double-double in two matches, including Gillette of 10 kills and 10 digs and then against Northwest with 18 kills and 15 digs. She was also named to the Region IX Challenge All-tournament team for her play. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Giani Nguili
September 11, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending September 7 -- -- Giani Nguili, Men's Soccer -- Giani Nguili, a freshman from Andernos les Bains, France, had the game-winning goal in the 78th minute in a 2-1 win over Gillette on September 5 to open Region IX conference play. Giani has scored two goals this season and has a total of four points. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Alex Gonzalez-Orozco
August 29, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week For Week Ending August 24 -- -- Alex Gonzalez-Orozco, Volleyball -- Alex Gonzalez-Orozco, a sophomore from Gering, Nebraska, had a good opening weekend for the Cougar volleyball team. Alex finished the four matches at the Reiver Invite with 61 digs along with four aces. She had a 19-dig effort against Butler and had had 17 against Hutchinson. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Alvaro Abeal
August 29, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week For Week Ending August 24 -- -- Alvaro Abeal, Men's Soccer -- Alvaro Abeal, a sophomore from La Coruña, Spain, scored the first goal of the season and it was an important one to help the Cougars tie Salt Lake Community College on August 21. The goal happened in the 74th minute off an assist from Randall Jacques. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending May 11 -- Softball Team
-- Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending May 11 -- Softball Team This goes out to the Cougar Softball Team for finishing the season at 27-25 and taking runner-up at the Region IX Tournament on May 4, falling just short of a regional title. The Cougars won 16 of their last 20 games and had a team batting average of .339 with 15 homes while scoring 353 runs. WNCC loses eight sophomores from this year's team including several all-region players in Randi Mitchell, JoLee Huffaker, Sierra Hilgner, and Kayli Cooper. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending May 11 -- WNCC Baseball Team
May 12, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending May 11 -- Baseball Team This goes out to the Cougar baseball team for putting together a strong season, finishing fourth at the Region IX tournament over the weekend and going 2-2 in the tournament. The taam finished the year at 27-26 and finished the year with a team batting average of .297 and a total of 54 home runs. The Cougars were 15-12 at home. WNCC loses 14 players to graduation for next year. At regionals, WNCC lost to Lamar, and then came back to defeat McCook and Lamar, before falling to Southeast. Good season the baseball team. -

-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending April 28 -- -- JoLee Huffaker, Softball -- JoLee Huffaker, a sophomore from Wellington, Colorado, had a decent week for the Cougars against McCook last weekend. JoLee finished the 4-game series going 6-14 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Jolee had a big triple in game one and then in game three, Jolee went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double, where she had the game-winning single that score Mykah Klumpp for the 7-6 win. JoLee is batting .403 on the season with 30 RBIs, 38 runs scored, nine doubles, and six triples. She has also stolen 27 bases. -

May 01, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending April 28 -- -- Cooper Burgess, Baseball -- Cooper Burgess, a sophomore from Spring Ranch, Texas, had a solid week in four wins over Luna last weekend. Cooper went 9-of-19 in four games with three doubles, a home run, 11 RBIs, and three runs scored. In game one against Luna, he had two doubles with two RBIs. In game two, he had a home run with four RBIs. Cooper is batting .337 on the year with 33 RBIs, 15 runs scored, eight doubles, and five home runs. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending April 23 -- Randi Mitchell
April 25, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending April 23 -- -- Randi Mitchell, Softball -- Randi Mitchell, a sophomore from Greeley, Colorado, had a nice 4-game series against Luna last weekend. Mitchell went 9-for-12 in four games with six runs scored, seven RBIs, four doubles, a triple, and a home run. Randi is hitting .380 for the year with 27 RBIs, 28 runs scored, and hit her first home run of the season in the game one win. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending April 23 -- Ren Sato
April 25, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending April 23 -- -- Ren Sato, Baseball -- Ren Sato, a freshman from Japan, appeared in two games in the series with Otero and had a productive showing. In game two on Friday, Ren went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs while on Monday, he went 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs as he filled in at third base. Ren is batting .311 for the year with 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored in 22 games played.
