April 03, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 31 -- Kallie Stocking -- Kallie Stocking, a freshman pitcher from West Valley City, Utah, had a big win in the pitching circle to help the Cougars claim an exciting 8-7 win over Otero on March 28. Kallie tossed three innings in relief and scattered six hits while allowing two runs. She also had a hit in the game with a run scored. In the first game of the day on March 28, Kallie had a double with two RBIs. Kallie is batting .265 in the season with four doubles. In the circle, she has tossed 51.2 innings with a 3-5 record and 28 strikeouts. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 31
April 03, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 31 -- Vaughn Wilson -- Vaughn Wilson, a freshman from Riverton, Utah, had a big game in a clutch 4-2 win over McCook on March 28. Wilson had two hits with a home run and three RBIs in a win over McCook Community College. Vaughn tied the game at 3-3 with a 3-run home run and then the Cougars won the game 4-3 in extra innings for the win. Vaughn also had a 4-for-5 plate appearance against Southeast as he hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple, home run with three RBIs and three runs scored. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 16 -- Helena Kuck
March 21, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 16 -- -- Helena Kuck, Women's Basketball -- Helena Kuck, a sophomore from Brazil, had a nice showing at the Region IX tournament last week in helping the Cougars to the semis and almost had a dramatic comeback win over Western Wyoming. Kuck had 19 points and five 3-pointers in a quarterfinal win over Eastern Wyoming and then had nine points with two threes against Western Wyoming. Kuck played all 40 minutes of the two games. For her effort, Kuck was one of four Cougars on the All-tournament team and she was also one of five players that made South All-Region. Kuck finishes second in the record books with 153 made threes in her career -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 16 -- Elijah Hollins
March 21, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 16 -- -- Elijah Hollins, Men's Basketball -- Elijah Hollins, a sophomore guard from Hendersonville, Tennessee, had a nice showing at the Region IX tournament over the weekend where he led the team to the semifinals. Hollins scored 20 points with four 3-pointers in the semis loss to Gillette and had 11 points and two threes in a win over Northwest. Hollins earned post-tourney recognition as a member of the All-tournament team as well as a First Team selection to the All-Region team. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 11 -- Lydia Tibbals
March 14, 2025--Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 11 -- Lydia Tibbals Lydia Tibbals, a freshman from Springville, Utah, had a big game in the Cougars' Spring Break game two contest against Arizona Western. Lydian had two hits with two singles and had two RBIs wth a run scored as the Cougars fell just short in the 8-7 defeat. For the season, Lydia is batting .324 with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 11 -- Cameryn Spence
March 14, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 11 -- Cameryn Spence -- Cameryn Spence, a sophomore from Douglas, Wyoming -- had a strong outing against Northeast CC Hawks on March 5 when the hurler went four innings against a Division II team that received votes in the national poll to help the Cougars to the 4-3 win at Cleveland Field. Spence struck out two and allowed just three hits. For the season, Spence has a 4.5 ERA with three strikeouts and allowed just eight hits with five earned runs. -
Female Athlete of the Week for week ending March 2 -- Kayli Cooper
March 08, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 2 -- -- Austin Cooper, Baseball -- Kayli Cooper, a sophomore pitcher from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada, had a nice weekend against Dawson Community College, where she picked up three pitching wins, one on Saturday and two on Sunday. On March 1, Cooper went the distance in game one win where she allowed nine hits but only gave up two runs with five strikeouts. On May 2, Cooper got the game-one win with a complete game performance of just allowing three hits with two runs and three strikeouts. She also won game two in relief as she went four innings in scattering five hits, allowing two runs and striking out three. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending March 2 -- Austin Cooper
March 08, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending March 2 -- Austin Cooper, Baseball -- Austin Cooper, a sophomore from Bozeman, Montana, had a nice game against Dawson on March first where he missed hitting for the cycle by a single. In the 10-1 win by the Cougars, Cooper went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Cooper had a double, triple, and a home run in the contest. In a game on March 2 against Dawson, Cooper went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and a single. So, he did get his cycle in the two days in a way. -
Female Athlete of the Week for week ending February 23 -- Adelina Urtane
February 28, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 23 -- -- Adelina Urtane, Women's Basketball -- Adelina Urtane, a sophomore guard/forward from Latvia had a huge game against McCook to help the No. 20 Lady Cougars win the South Sub-region and host the regional tournament March 13-15. Adelina had a double-double in 61-56 win where she scored 14 points, including a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, and also went 3-for-5 on the free throw line. Adelina had nine defensive boards while also dishing off three assists. -
Male Athlete of the Week for week ending February 23 -- Elijah Burney
February 28, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 23 -- -- Elijah Burney, Men's Basketball -- Elijah Burney, a sophomore guard from Las Vegas, Nevada, had one of the biggest rebounds and points of the season against North Platte on November 19. Burney was in the right spot to get a missed shot with 1.5 seconds and had the instinct to go up and get the ball off before time expired to get the 85-83 win over North Platte. Burney finished the game with 15 points, including going 8-of-9 from the free throw line. He also pulled down nine rebounds with five assists in the win. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending February 16 -- Zozefina SIpolina
February 21, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 16 -- -- Zozefine Sipolina, Women's Basketball -- Zozefine Sipolina, a freshman from Latvia, was named the Region 9 Athlete of the Week for her play last week in four games where she finished with a total of 92 points, including 20 3-pointers and going 12-of-14 from the free throw line. She also pulled down 14 rebounds and had six steals. Sipolina became one of just 30 women's basketball players to net 400 points in a season and her 82 3-pointers made is now tied for second in season 3-point shooting along with Lyndie Puckett from 2014-15 season. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week ending Feb 16 -- Elijah Hollins
February 21, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 16 -- -- Elijah Hollins, Men's Basketball -- Elijah Hollins, a sophomore guard from Hendersonville, Tennessee, had a strong weekend against Trinidad and Otero where he tallied 43 points and buried nine 3-pointers. In a game against Otero, Elijah led the team with 27 points and five 3-pointers while going 4-for-4 from the line. In the Trinidad game, he had 16 points with four triples. Elijah is averaging 17.8 points a contest and has made 76 3-pointers this season. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Jolee Huffaker
February 14, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 9 -- --JoLee Huffaker, Softball -- JoLee Huffaker, a sophomore outfielder from Wellington, Colorado, opened the season last weekend against Ranger and Cisco with nine hits in four games with a batting average of .600. JoLee had 3-hit games in the two games with Ranger where she also had a double and a triple. She had three RBIs in the game 2 7-3 win. Against Cisco, she had three hits and has registered a hit in all four games this season. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Clay Brandon
February 14, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 9 -- --Clay Brandon, Baseball -- Clay Brandon, a red-shirt sophomore from West Herriman, Utah, opened the season with five shutout innings and received the Region IX Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors for his work on the mound in the Cougars' season-opening win against New Mexico Military. Brandon worked five innings in allowing just three hits, striking out four, and not walking a batter. For the season, Brandon has a 0.00 ERA. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Zozefine Sipolina
February 06, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 2 -- -- Zozefine Sipolina, Women's Basketball -- Zozefine Sipolina, a freshman guard from Jurmala, Latvia, had a big game in the Cougar women's 67-50 win over McCook on January 28 to move the Cougars into first place in the sub-region. Sipolina buried four 3-pointers and scored 17 points in the win, which included going 3-for-3 from the free throw line (it was the only free throws that WNCC attempted in the game). Sipolina also had two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sipolina is averaging 13.9 points a contest and 3.1 rebounds. She is shooting 35.5 percent from behind the arc while netting 85.4 percent from the free throw line. Sipolina has made 61 3-pointers this season so far. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Reece Randolph
February 06, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending February 2 -- -- Reece Randolph, Men's Basketball -- Reece Randolph, a freshman guard from Boston, Massachusetts, had a huge game in a win over McCook on January 28, where Reece scored 28 points and buried six 3-pointers in the team's 102-83 win. Reece also was perfect from the charity stripe with a 4-for-4 showing. On top of that, he also pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists and two steals. Reece is averaging 10.3 points a contest and shooting 77.3 percent from the free-throw line. Reece has buried 33 triples for the season and dished out 32 assists. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Laura Montiel
January 28, 2025-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending January 26 -- -- Laura Montiel, Women's Basketball -- Laura Montiel, a sophomore from Granada, Spain, helped the Cougars to two conference wins over the weekend, where she combined for 31 points and 11 rebounds in the wins over Otero and Trinidad. In the Otero contest, Laura finished with 19 points with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. In the Trinidad win, the 5-foot-7 guard has 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. She had one 3-pointer in each game. Laura is averaging 10 points a contest and 4.5 rebounds a contest. She has scored in double figures in the last four games. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Mathiang Maker
January 28, 2025-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending January 26 -- -- Mathiang Maker, Men's Basketball -- Mathiang Maker, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, capped off last week with a combined 53 points in two contests, which included a 25-point performance in a win over Trinidad State. In the win, Maker went 13-of-15 from the line for the 6-foot-8 wing player. He also had 28 points in a loss to Otero. Maker has scored double digits in the last seven games. He also pulled down a combined 15 rebounds in the two games. Maker is averaging 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds a game for the Cougars. -
Female Athlete of the Week for Week Ending December 11 -- Adelina Urtane
December 17, 2024-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending December 11 -- -- Adelina Urtane, Women's Basketball -- Adelina Urtane, a sophomore from Aizkraukle, Latvia, continued to have a productive season as she tallied four straight double-figure games in the last four outings. She also has scored double figures in 9 of the last 10 games. At the Gillette tourney, Adelina finished with 41 points with three treys and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe along with 17 rebounds, two assists, and three steals. She had a double of 11 rebounds and 13 points in a win over then unbeaten North Dakota School of Science. Adelina is averaging 13.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and is shooting 81.6 from the charity stripe. -
Male Athlete of the Week for Week Ending December 11 -- Isaiah St. Preux
December 17, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending December 11 -- -- Isaiah St. Preux, Men's Basketball -- Isaiah St. Preux, a freshman guard from Miramar, Florida, wrapped up the first semester with three straight double-figure games. Against Little Big Horn, Isaiah had 24 points followed by a 26-point effort against Miles, and then 15 points in a home win over Casper College on December 10. In the last four games, Isaiah 73 points with six 3-pointers and going 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Isaiah is averaging 9.3 points a game and shooting 77.3 percent from beyond the arc. -
Female Athlete of the of the Week for week ending November 24 -- Lidia Hernandez
-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending November 24 -- -- Lidia Hernandez, Women's Basketball -- Lidia Hernandez, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, had two big games in a classic in Twin Falls, Idaho. In the contest against College of Southern Idaho, Lidia had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds. She also was 7-of-9 shooting from the field with two assists, three steals, and a blocked shot. She also had 10 points in the game with Utah State Eastern at the CSI Classic where she had 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. -
Male Athlete of the Week for week ending November 24 -- Elijah Hollins
December 01, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending November 24 -- -- Elijah Hollins, Men's Basketball -- Elijah Hollins, a sophomore transfer, had a good week last week in four games where he scored a total of 67 points and had 14 3-pointers. Hollins had 31 points in a game against Gillette where he had seven 3-pointers. He also scored 15 against College of Southern Idaho and 16 against Colorado Northwestern. Elijah is averaging 17.1 points a game and is shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Nataly Dunka, Women's Basketball
November 18, 2024-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending November 16 -- -- Nataly Dunka, Women's Basketball -- Nataly Dunka, a sophomore from Brazil, scored double figures in three games last week in three wins. Natalie scored a total of 50 points, with nine rebounds and making 2 triples and going 14-of-17 from the charity stripe. Nataly had 19 points and six rebounds in a win on the road against EWC with 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. In the Fairfield Inn Cougar Classic, She scored 16 points while going 6-of-7 from the free throw line against LCC in a win and then had 15 points with three rebounds and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. For the season, Nataly is averaging 13.8 points and 3.5 rebounds a game. Natalyhas made 15-of-19 from the free throw line. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Kellon Harris, Men's Basketball
November 18, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending November 16 -- -- Kellon Harris, Men's Basketball -- Kellon Harris, a redshirt freshman from Scottsbluff, had a nice week last week with an all-around game in the overtime loss to EWC and the win over LCCC. In the two games, Kellon scored 21 points against LCCC with three triples, and six rebounds while connecting on 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. In the LCCC win, Kellon had 15 points with three 3-pointers, six rebounds, four assists and a steal. For the year, Kellon is averaging 15.6 points and 6.8 rebounds a game while burying 11 threes and making 13-of-15 free throws for 86.7 percent. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Chloe Grady
October 31, 2024-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 27 -- -- Chloe Grady, Volleyball -- Chloe Grady, a sophomore from Hawaii, had a consistent week last week in three matches where she had 18 kills in three wins over EWC, Lamar, and McCook. In the sub-region wins against Lamar and McCook, she had seven kills each and hit .778 in the Lamar win. She also tallied eight blocks in the three wins. For the year, Grady has 114 kills and 83 blocks, including 19 solo blocks. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Simon Echeverry
October 31, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 27 -- -- Simon Echeverry, Men's Soccer -- Simon Echeverry, a sophomore from Bogota, Colombia, helped the Cougars to a semi-final win over LCCC last Saturday 1-0. Echeverry recorded the assist as he showed his team-play in dishing off the ball to a wide-open Eduardo Oliveira with under eight minutes to play for the 1-0 win and move the Cougars into the Region IX Finals against Otero that will be played in Scottsbluff November 2. Echeverry has scored just one goal and two assists this season but it is overall play on the field that makes him a key member. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Emily VIllagomez
October 19, 2024-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 13 -- -- Emily Villagomez, Women's Soccer -- Emily Villagomez, a sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, recorded 34 saves in a 2-1 loss to Central Wyoming College on October 12. Central Wyoming had 42 shots in the contest. She also had nine saves in a 4-0 loss to Northwest on October 11. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Lucas Ovalle
October 19, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 13 -- -- Lucas Ovalle, Men's Soccer -- Lucas Ovalle, a sophomore from Chile, had the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over Central Wyoming College on October 12. The contest was tied at 1-1 at halftime and then 2-2 in the second half. In the 76th minute, Ovalle took a pass from Eduardo Oliveira and put the ball into the back of the net. -
Female Athlete of the Week -- Taylor Tyser
October 10, 2024-- Female Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 7 -- -- Taylor Tyser, Volleyball -- Taylor Tyser, a sophomore libero from Laramie, Wyoming, was named the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week this week for an outstanding week, which included a match high 33 digs in a win over Laramie County. For the three matches last week, Taylor finished with 62 digs, eight set assists, three aces, two kills, and had 14 service points. Taylor is about 130 digs away for her 1,000 career dig. -
Male Athlete of the Week -- Eduardo Oliveira
October 10, 2024-- Male Athlete of the Week for the Week Ending October 7 -- -- Eduardo Oliveira, Men's Soccer -- Eduardo Oliveira, a sophomore from Brazil, had a hand in all three goals in WNCC's 3-1 win over LCCC that secured the Cougars a top two playoff seed. Eduardo had an assist on Alvaro Abeal's first goal of the game. Oliveira then scored the Cougars' next two goals in the 29th and then in the 58th minutes. Eduardo now has 11 goals this season and 20 goals for his Cougar career.
